I found this woman in the states - Susan Voss who has done a lot of polymer photogravure work. She has posted all her experiments on a blog.

She even talks about mid tone measels - Warren you remember these??

Here’s a question for everyone. Its about inkjet printers. I want one. A good one. I’m looking at A2 size minimum. I want archival quality. Economical ink usage. I want to be able to replace individual colours rather than if one colour runs out having to replace them all. Models I am considering.
Firstly Epson:
Epson Stylus Pro 3800 or the Epson Stylus Pro 4880 in the A2 range. Prices $2195 and $2,725 respectively.
Epson Stylus Pro 7800 in A1. Price $4950
All these use Epson’s 8 ink system and are archivally rated.
Canon:
Canon iPF5000 around $2,969. Apparently far more economical to run than the Epsons though the inks are pretty expensive.
A 12 ink system with light resistant inks.
Are there any others I should be looking at or any other things I should be considering? I want to produce quality prints as well as inkjet films for solarplate. What do you use/prefer?

I’ve always been a huge fan of the RCA in London. The only postgrad only art and design college in the world. They have fantastic facilities and great technicians. I once bought some pieces from a printmaker there 13 odd years ago, and whilst in London I made a point of going to all of the there end of year shows. Here’s a link to the latest printmaking crop.

It’s nearly that time of the year again when we head up to Lake Mungo for a week-end of full on Photographic activities. LLoyd and myself will guide a workshop that incorporates digital techniques, moonlight photography, painting with light and in depth critique sessions.

9th of August marks the 30th anniversary of Goerge Baldessin’s death. The date was commemorated at The Baldessin Press with the planting of a gum tree near the studio. Tess Edwards, Lloyd Godman and Rob Hails did the honours - Silvi Glattauer took the memorable photo.

One of the most interesting exhibitions I saw was ‘maquinas & almas’ at the Reina Sofia in Madrid. It’s an exhibition of digital art and new media. Science and art moving along together to combine art, technology, mystery and emotion - have a look at the Youtube viedeo:Maquinas & Almas

This is someone I was a fan of in the UK whilst I lived there. She’s a printmaker who specialises in deeply embossed collographs. She’s represented in a variety of UK galleries though my favourite is the Curwen which is owned by the New Academy Gallery. I bought one of her pieces from here a couple of years back.

There’s not a lot of her work on display here, but its worth looking at.
